In this section we'll cover the divine powers of the world of Severance and any other sources of divine magic.

Aura Mazda (supreme god)
Supreme god, creator of all the other gods. He retreated to the depths of the universe eons ago, therefore is barely known at all and also not worshipped (at least not directly).

Spenta Manyu (intermediate god)

Spenta Manyu is the Sun god. Working with Ianna, he watches the world trying to avoid his brother Angra Manyu's dark plots to have any success at all and evil and tiranny from ruling the earth.

Engraving representation of Spenta Manyu

He's the champion of light, his strength and vigilance are steady, though his sister Ianna is smarter and more diligent, maybe because most evil creatures hide in the darkess to weave their sinister plots, and thus has learnt to anticipate their moves with cunning and foresight. Spenta Manyu is more straightforward and resolute, though impulsive sometimes. His main flaw is overconfidence in his own strength and power, which makes him be off guard sometimes or understimate his foes as easy to defeat ("Good always win, doesn't it?"). He hates undead beings.

The church of Spenta Manyu is very organized and has always worked closely with the Order of the Sword, maybe because they share similar goals and points of view, and also a likely frame of mind. Nevertheless, that church has never (at least, there has never been proof of it) experienced any corruption.

Ianna (intermediate goddess)

Ianna, Aura Mazda's most loved daughter, was the one willing to protect the Creation from the disasters brought by the god's war, even to the point of banishing the gods from the world, thousands of years ago (moment, by the way, in which the elves retreated to their deepest woods and from where they haven't returned since as a nation). Every time the Lord of Chaos has appeared, Ianna's might and support to the heroes of the two Sword wars have managed to capture him and thus avoid the destruction of the world; at least temporarily, till he grows strong again in a few thousand years and the war starts over.

Ianna's typical representation

Given her love for the physical world and the benign creatures which live on it, she's learnt much and has increased her power over illusions (which was already considerable). Furthermore, she's learnt of the dark plots of her brother Angra Manyu to achieve absolute dominion and knows she can never be caught off guard. With her brother Spenta Manyu, she keeps permanent watch to avoid evil becoming stronger, giving power to her clerics to make her light banish darkness wherever she's needed.

She's known with a few names depending on the nation who worships her. Her most widely known name, anyway, is her true name, Ianna.

Xshathra (minor god)
A whimsical minor god, very chaotic in nature and behaviour. Though he builds many things, the sparks of his forge are quite destructive, and he loves actually building weapons and use them to destroy anything on his path.
Xshathra's (malign) representation

Amongst his worshipers there are craftsmen and blacksmiths, but also cold blooded tirants. Nevertheless, the majority of his worshipers are quite neutral in nature... they fight anyone no matter their race or nation.

He's been allied of Angra Manyu in many times, because his lust for battle has been a great help for the dark one so often. Nevertheless, he's also forged the weapons of Spenta Manyu and Ianna. Given his whimsical character, it's clear he doesn't mind much to which side he helps in a given moment...

Angra Manyu (intermediate god, aka "Prince of Darkness")
As the prince of tiranny, he forges plots and conspiracies to dominate the whole world, always trying to get one step ahead of his brothers Spenta Manyu and Ianna, who with their permanent watch make the whole deal quite difficult.
Angra Manyu's draconic representation

He's very cunning and intelligent, having refined his shady skills during thousands of years, trying to get advantages to defeat the gods of light. It was his fault giving life to the Lord of Chaos, unleashing an uncontrolled power who (unlike himself) wants to destroy the whole world. Even then, he's worked with him many times, trying to take advantage of his power, betraying him in the appropriate moments with subtle stratagems, furthering his own cause and above all avoiding the Lord of Chaos' success (what could happen if someday the Lord of Chaos realized those deceptions and betrayed Angra Manyu as well!?)

He's worshiped under a few names by most of the evil humanoids of the world, guiding them (and using them) to get absolute dominion.

Aserat (mayor god, aka "Lord of Chaos" and "Chaos child")

Aserat is the Chaos Incarnated. His evil has no limits and his power has created or invoked from the depths of the universe a legion of horrible creatures willing to follow his will and bring the end of time to the world.

He was created by mistake by Angra Manyu when he tried to get more power from pure chaos and defeat the gods of light, and since then has been kept jailed on the Abyss of Velaskyalf. Once every few millennia, he gets back enough of his power and is able to manifest it in the physical world. In that way he unleashed the two first Sword Wars.

He's worshiped under a few names (never with his own) by the most evil and terrible creatures of the world, who are unaware that the price for Aserat's power is the end of the world. If anyone depicts his image, does it with the most absolute darkness.

Though he's a mayor god, his power is in a great deal weakened due to his imprisonment on the Abyss of Velaskyalf. As soon as he gets back some of his power, he tries time and again to conquer the world to destroy it, though Ianna and her heroes have always defeated him... for now.

Other divine powers

Besides the main faiths, there are a few alternatives as sources of clerical might. For example, the dwarves practice some kind of ancestors worship (tied to their long story) drawing power from it. In a nutshell, the main source of such a power must be truly important for the beings who worship it and be worth the effort as specific, clearly defined ideals or virtues. With the appropriate Supernatural power, clerical-oriented characters could have access to those kind of otherwordly magic.
