Introduction to the Changeling by FUDGE game, for Granada CLN 2002

"Al-Andalus" you wondered when reading the letter. What may have attracted your grumply old mentor's attention in that disputed territory? Perhaps he doesn't know that there are still rumors of war with the kingdom of Castilla? And by the way, a wedding is unlikely to stop a new faerie war in the world... go on man, we are in the 21th century!

It was a strange missive like all his. It was basically an invitation to spend a few days of rest in a small town in the kingdom of Al-Andalus. Sorry, of Andalusia, lest any mortal reads what is not meant to be read by mortal eyes! Returning to the subject at hand, one week of paid vacations in a small property in the countryside in a small town you've never heard about (well, you don't know the south of Spain SO well). It looks that, even whern Banality, has loaded him with years and he doesn't have much time before the Undoing, he had found in this place some type of mystery of the Dream of considerable importance that required of younger and more vigorous fairies than he to be solved.

Let's hope this time is not yet another fiasco! Younger changelings still have reputations to maintain...! Well, at least they are paid vacations... Oh no! He's only going to pay the stay, not the extra expenses, the mean oldie...!

This Changeling game is prepared for a small tournament in Guarida de Fantasia, CLN Granada 2002 (Fantasy's lair, CLN Granada 2002), and is somewhat atypical. First because it is not going to be run with the standard rules of Changeling, although whoever knows the game will find most of what they know quite similar to their original knowledge. everything what could be found there will still be in the fame. The rules will be based on FUDGE, a freeform system adaptable to any setting, very simple to use and with great freedom of rules. The rules are mostly obvious, no previous experience needed, and with a short introduction of five minutes they will be explained and any player will be able to play.

Finally the game skips the standard changeling "Anglo-Saxon" point of view, to be run in Spain with local fae... because there is magic in the world in many more places than the standard ones!

The character concepts for this game will be based on the following ideas, I'll bring the charsheets made beforehand to avoid losing time making the chars those days. The characters can be either male or female, is indifferent for the game.

      • A Nocker mechanic, wilder
      • A traveller eshu (of unknown profession, as mortal apparently of Arab origin).
      • A satyr, universitary student and sportsman.
      • A Liam Sidhe, almost an ordained priest, quite attached to mortals, without court contacts in the kingdom of Al-Andalus.
      • A Sluagh hairdresser, with the flaw (from the sluagh point of view) of gregarious.
      • A troll grump, owner of a comic/rpg bookstore, very given to grumbling and complaining.
      • ... at the moment that's all, which is not little! Oookay, I'll also bring a pooka, at least;)

Finally, as it is said in the site of CLN Granada 2002, the initial idea of the tournament is two sessions, the first Friday the 19th and the other Saturday the 20th, where I'll run the same game for differents groups of players, with 4-5 seats in both sessions. According to the circumstances it is possible that the program might change although we'll do our best to keep the timing.

For any question, suggestion or critic, you can find me in my email address dungeonero < at > gmail com.

P.S.: after consulting with the organization, we've decided to not make preinscriptions, to give the same possibilities to all the assistants of joining the game, because the people with Internet access could get all the seats quickly. Excuse the annoyances.
