SLFA and Spanish Liga

The SLFA was established in May of 2002 by Soccer-Life.com following the EIFA (Electronic International Football Association) experience, which started in 2001
Spanish Liga started as part of the SFLA in August of 2002. Notice that Spanish Liga will follow SLFA instructions, and if a Spanish Liga rule and a SLFA rule are contradictories, then Spanish Liga rule is nullified.
The SLFA consists of 84 teams in 3 Leagues. Each team has one active manager to operate it. No person can manage 2 teams except in extreme circumstances where the SLFA Board's approval has been given, and the entire league notified (note this situation often only occurs when a manager is acting as caretaker for another manager for a short period of time).

Applying for a Position as Manager

Current managers have the opportunity to apply for vacant jobs with other teams when the SLFA Board notifies the league they are open for applications.
New managers are appointed to teams without managers from the Waiting List. For a person who wishes to join the SLFA to enter the Waiting List, they may use the application form from the SLFA website or they can e-mail me if they are interested especially in Spanish Liga and they don't care about waiting for a vacancy, even thought there are vacancies in other leagues. It should be noted that positions do not arise often, and therefore a lengthy waiting period may occur. When a position becomes available for a New manager, several candidates from the Waiting List are chosen, primarily based on the length of time they have been on the list. After the candidates have been asked if they are still interested, the SLFA Board will decide which candidate shall take the job.

Competitions

League Competition: The Spanish Liga consists of 2 divisions containing 12 teams. During the season, each team play each other team twice, therefore there are 22 rounds in a single season. Games will be usually played on Saturday, although some games can be played on Wednesday.
Worst 2 teams of Primera División would be relegated to Segunda División while 2 best teams of Segunda will be promoted to Primera.

Copa del Rey: Copa del Rey is a standard knockout cup with each round played over 2 legs. The preliminary round involves 16 teams as 8 teams that qualified for 1/4 finals last season are excluded from this round. Cup games are generally played on Wednesday, and do not interrupt League games.
Please note, standard 2 leg rules apply, if after the 2nd leg scores are level, the winner is decided by away goals, and if these are equal, then a penalty shootout.

Supercopa: At the beginning of each season last season Liga winner and Copa winner (Copa runners-up if a team win both competitions) will play a single game in neutral field or a 2 round competition, playing the first game in the Copa del Rey winner field.

Champions League: Every season there will be played an interleague competition with the best teams of every league. In our case the 3 best teams in the League competition and Copa del Rey winner will play next season's tournament, If Copa del Rey winner is between the 3 best teams in the League, then the Copa runner up will be qualified, and if this one is also between the top 3 teams, then the 4th qualified in la Liga will play the Champions League competition

Friendlies: Teams can only play friendlies during the off-season. If you wish to play a friendly, organize it with another manager and advise the league commissioner at least one week in advance. The statistics from friendlies don't count for league games. Therefore, if a player is suspended or booked in a friendly game, it does not affect his DP level. Players who are suspended in a league or cup game, still can play in friendlies. Injuries however do carry over between friendlies and other games, as do ability points gained.

Other competitions: At certain times the Boards may introduce other competitions. This includes International games.

SLFA and Spanish Boards, fines, appeals and protests

The SLFA Board controls the operation of the SLFA. The main members make the majority of decisions in the league, however, often these decisions come after consultation with all involved parties.
Spanish Liga Board would make decisions about issues that involve only to Spanish teams.
The Boards reserves the right to fine teams when they believe a team has acted outside of the rules directly or indirectly, or outside the spirit of the game by using in-appropriate conduct.
If a manager believes the Boards has treated them unfairly, they may appeal any decisions made. The appeal is made to the Board itself. If the Board does not accept the appeal, the rest of the league shall be asked to form an opinion. Note, if the appeal ends up unsuccessful, there remains a possibility heavier penalty may be incurred.
Furthermore, if a manager believes another manager has acted inappropriately then they must appeal to the Board.

2.Squad management

Squad depth

Squad depth is a key issue for a team, due to suspensions, injuries, and, especially, fatigue. Fatigue works at follows:
All players begin the season with a fatigue level of 100.
Every minute he plays, his fatigue level will decrease by a small amount.
At the end of the games the players recover 27 fitness points. In the mid week every player recovers other 27 fitness points. So, fatigue will only really affect to those players which have played on Sunday and also on Wednesday.

Old players

A player may retire following the next table:
For GK's:
34 = 20%
35 = 40%
36 = 60%
37 = 80%
38 = Retired

For other positions:
32 = 20%
33 = 40%
34 = 60%
35 = 80%
36 = Retired

Also, oldies will lose primary skill Ab Points according the following table (+2 years for goalies):

Age 28 Ab - 500 points
Age 29 Ab - 500 points
Age 30 Ab - 500 points
Age 31 Ab -1000 points
Age 32 Ab -1000 points
Age 33 Ab -1000 points
Age 34 Ab -1000 points
Age 35 Ab -1000 points

Young players

Every player under 23 will gain or lose Ab Points according to the youth academy investment made by the club at the beginning of the season and some random factor.
To get young players the at the beginning of each season every team must decide how much money will they invest in youth scouting. The more money invested the better players will come out that season. Randomly the players will be assigned to teams, although the teams that have decided to invest the most will have more chances to get better and more players than the rest of the teams. The players will appear in the squads also randomly along the season.
Managers can invest in 8 categories of the Youth Academy at the beginning of the season: Scouting GK, Scouting DF, Scouting MF, Scouting FW, Training GK, Training DF, Training MF, and Training FW.
The Board will invest $125,000 from the teams that don't have an active manager or whose manager haven't decided how much money they'd invest in each section. If the club is in Segunda División the Board will invest $75,000

Relegation rules

When a team is relegated every player in the club may decide whether to play in Segunda División or be transfer listed. If the player decides to leave the club and the manager doesn't transfer him, the player will lose 1 primary skill due to his bad mood. The rule will be also applied when a Primera División club tries to sell a player to a Segunda División club.
The chances of the player to reject the transfer is found in the following table:

Age/Skill       13      14      15      16      17      18+
16               0       5      10      15      20      25

Promotion rules

When a team is promoted its manager can add 10 Secondary skill points to their players, with the restriction of 3 points for a single player.

3.Financial management

Bank balance in SLFA

The team's bank balance will be updated and released via the mailing list, but it is for your good to make your own calculations to check your money moves.
If your bank balance reaches below zero, you will have 4 weeks to recover this money. If after 4 weeks you have still not recovered, the Spanish Liga Board will Auction your best player.
Note: Make sure you are out of debt, or close enough to it that gate receipts from upcoming games will recover all debt BEFORE the Transfer Deadline passes.

Source of income

Teams income will be primarily from their gate receipts, sponsor contracts and selling players. Compared to other leagues in Spanish Liga TV revenue is very important and it is provided at the beginning of the season. So, managers should notice most teams make losses during the competition and must be very cautious while the transfer window is open. New managers should also notice this and don't panic if their bank balance keeps reducing during the season.

Gate receipts, TV and merchandising: The most important source of money income in the SLSL is the gate receipts paid by spectators who come to see your home games. The number of fans coming will be resulted by:
1. Table Position of your and your opponent.
2. The clubs history (more recent history has more weighting than older history).
Gate receipts are divided as follows
Two-Leg Cup Games and League Games: 100/0 (home team gets 100%)
Games in Neutral field: 50/50
Managers can not decide ticket prices, standard price is 15$. They can decide to increase their stadium capacity. See Expenses for details.

TV Rights: The second (the first for some teams) most important source of income in Spanish Liga. At the beginning of the season TV channels will pay each team an important sum of money. At the beginning od Season 2 TV channel payed $5 million to Primera División teams and $3.5 million to Segunda División teams. TV channel will also pay $500,000 to Segunda División teams for each Copa del Rey round passed.

Sponsorship income: At mid-season the administrators will review the amount of money inside their markets, and the cash flow. Depending of it they will decide the sponsorship income levels. If the cash flow is right, teams will receive about 2 million.

Awards: At the end of each season, each club is given an amount of money, based on where they finished in the league. The higher a team finishes, the more money they receive. These are the prizes for the present Season:

Liga - Primera División

1st	3 million
2nd	2 million
3rd	1.25 million
4th	1 million
5th	750,000
6th	500,000

4th	600,000
5th	450,000
6th	300,000
7th	225,000
8th	175,000
9th	125,000
10th	 75,000
11th	No prize
12th 	No prize

Copa del Rey
Champion	2 million
Finalist	1 million
Semi-finalists	500,000

Supercopa
Champion        250,000

Transfers: Managers can sell and buy players while the transfer window is open. During this season the transfer windows opens on March the 1st and closes on May the the 30th. It will reopened from July the 1st to July the 31st. Managers can loan players during the whole season, although the player will play for the new team until the end of the season. Managers can not reacall players.

Others: There could be other sources of income. Currently SLSL Board are paying $500,000 to these teams thet keep an active web page, and $15,000 per review and preview reports.

Expenses

Teams expenses will be primarily on salaries for the players, buying players, youth players academy, and stadium improves

Salaries:The salaries depend on the player's total skill and age:

A player's skill depends on his main skill category:

If Primary Abl < 11 Then salary = 2000
If Primary Abl = 11 Then salary = 3000
If Primary Abl = 12 Then salary = 5000
If Primary Abl = 13 Then salary = 7000
If Primary Abl = 14 Then salary = 9000
If Primary Abl = 15 Then salary = 11000
If Primary Abl = 16 Then salary = 15000
If Primary Abl = 17 Then salary = 17000
If Primary Abl = 18 Then salary = 19000
If Primary Abl = 19 Then salary = 23000
If Primary Abl = 20 Then salary = 26000
If Primary Abl = 21 Then salary = 29000
If Primary Abl = 22 Then salary = 33000
If Primary Abl = 23 Then salary = 37000
If Primary Abl = 24 Then salary = 41000
If Primary Abl = 25 Then salary = 45000
If Primary Abl = 26 Then salary = 49000
If Primary Abl = 27 Then salary = 54000
If Primary Abl = 28 Then salary = 59000
If Primary Abl = 29 Then salary = 65000
If Primary abl = 30 Then salary = 72000

If team is in Primera División then add $10,000 p/w
If team is in Segunda División then add $6,000 p/w

If age < 21 Then salary = salary * 1
If age is between 21 - 24 Then salary = salary * 1.3
If age is between 25 - 30 Then salary = salary * 1.8
If age is between 31 - 34 Then salary = salary * 2

If a player's skill is raised during the season, he will start receiving a higher salary. Keeping a large squad of high-skilled players will cost you a lot, and at some stage the salaries may overcome the gate receipts.

Youth players academy: At the beginning of the season each manager decides how much money they will invest in the Academy. See Squad management for details. Also, every club has an U23 team. Those players are free and can play with the first team with the following restrictions:
For Liga games: They can't play more than 250 minutes with their clubs
For Copa games: Thay can play as many minutes as their manager wants
For interleague games: They can't play

If the player violates one of the previous rules he will be promoted to the first team and therefor they will receive their professional salary. A player can be promoted to the first team at any moment of the season.
The U23 team can't have more than 25 players at any moment and since season 7 can't be older than 23 years old.

Stadium capacity increases:The higher stadium capacity the bigger ticket revenue you receive. You can increase the capacity of your stadiums, but it will take effect after the end of the present season. If you want to increase the capacity of your stadium you must pay $500,000 + $100 per additional seat. That means, if you increase your stadium capacity in 10,000 seats, you must pay 1.5 million (500,000 + 100*10000).
