Tristania, Hydra and Whispering Silenceby VestialThis was, without doubt, one of the best and more emotive concerts I have ever attended. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that the three bands that appeared had female vocalists but, the atmosphere of tranquillity, emotion and brotherhood that was felt during practically all the concert was incredible.
Whispering Silence was the first band to show its material. The palms at the end of each tune indicated that the audience enjoyed the spectacle and offered its support them. Something peculiar and, even cute, was the frequency with which whistling sounds could be heard to compliment the vocalist and the keyboard player. It should be clear that this last thing only was the peculiar detail, and is necessary to recognize that these musicians have sufficient quality to succeed. There was only one detail, and it was that, like in many occasions, the sound was not to its fullness for the first band on stage. Pity, seems that once again the incompetence of the people that control the audio was present.
The turn arrived for Hydra. What I can say. Excellent. Although its music is much far of being Extreme Metal, its combination of Rock, Doom, Heavy and Progressive Metal caused more of one tremor to many of us listening. Again, applauses were offered with insistence; again, the female figure dominated of the scene. In my opinion, it seemed that the inclusion of the violin in the melodies complemented nicely the good work of the other band members and gave the music a nostalgic touch, that bewitches, that made us "feel".
After a long waiting time that to us became eternal, Tristania came to scene. The attendants let themselves to the front to see them closely, the euphoria was contagious, heads began their frenetic shake. Sängerin Vibeke looked fantastic, animated the public, made them jump, shout, give in to the music. Tristania demonstrated the reason of its popularity, giving to us a concert where they gave in to their followers. In the peak point of the presentation, I was witness of something I had not seen in a long time: Fraternal Slam. I know, you're thinking what the hell is he talking about. That is to say, extreme physical contact, where we could feel happy, where we did not worry what could happen to him to our body, we where sure THERE WAS NO INTENTION to hurt anyone who whas there sharing the taste of a little pain and violence. It was fucking great to take us from the shoulder, groups of perfect strangers, and to shake the head to the rithm of the distorsion. It was, in one word, wonderful. Still Tristania would return from the dressing room after the shouts of the fans, later to finish to the presentation with the song " My Lost Lenore ". And, to make matters worse, the ones in charge of the sound failed again, forcing Tristania to reinitiate in three occasions this last song. This demonstrated that there was no intention of reducing the scenic presence of a good band like Whispering Silence, but that in fact they're incompetent.
