Tristania, Norwegian gothic metal in Monterreyby Israel MoralesKnown as one of the most important bands in the international underground scene, because of its contribution to the competed gothic metal scene, Tristania will arrive to Monterrey to offer a concert tomorrow at the Casino Ferrocarrilero.
Agreeing with one of the rythmical changes in the 90s in the heavy metal scene, where the performance became rich scenically speaking and the progressive and melodic character transformed music into melancholic and dark passages without losing guitar power, Tristania shares this sonorous perspective next to bands like Therion, The sins of thy beloved or Theater of tragedy.
Coming from Norway, where dark metal enjoys great acceptance, Tristania will offer a retrospección of its more remarkable songs, conformed in its discography that includes the albums Widow's Weeds and Beyond the Veil and the singles Tristania and Angina. With a style denominated doom that enters the gothic metal category, its music distills between the orquestal and black metal (one of the most extreme musical styles), without forgetting the attractiveness that the feminine and male vocals offer, departure point of many bands of this sort at the present time.
The lyric content of its last production reveals their particular vision of death, decay, dreams, resentments, and the unconscious chaos that this world guided by appearances always causes. Their members are vocalist Vibeke Stene, the guitarist and also vocalist Morten Veland, Einar Moen their keyboard player, Kenneth Olsson, drums, Anders H. Hidle in the guitar and Rune Osterhus in the bass.

Their music proposal is perhaps one of most solid in the local scene (progressive elements, dark, heavy), emphasizing in first plane the symphonic touch that they impregnate in their music, thanks to the particular touch of the violin and the special voice of Marcela Bovio. Completing the line-up are: Alejandro Millán, keyboards; Roberto Quintanilla, guitarist and Carlos Martinez in the bass, who have an independent production called Bosquejo.
