In this section there will appear differents works from different bands belonging or not to the Alternative Pop Rock, but which we consider of main importance to understand the pop rock from the 70´s up to nowadays.

A-E

Bauhaus -Burning From The Inside-

The main band belonging to the gothic rock. Bauhaus edits in 1983 their last songs before fading out. Dry melodies where dreams turn into nightmares. The personal voice of Peter Murphy close to David Bowie´s and the screaming guitar of Daniel Ash tell us dark stories which make up the best and more obscure work of this cult band.

Björk -Debut-

Debut album for this young girl from Iceland who first appeared as lead vocalist on Sugarcubes. Eclectic and kaleidoscope album where we can find from little intimate pieces up to dancefloor melodies, but where the main instrument is her impressive and fantastic voice.

Brian Eno -Apollo, Atmospheres & Soundtracks -

In 1983 Brian Eno publishes, helped by Daniel Lanois and his brother Roger Eno, another work exploring the ambient music. Now it is time to give sound to the images of a document about the U.S. areospacial project Apollo. Eno transports us out of orbit in a voyage towards the stars with his instrumental pieces.

Bryan Ferry - Mamouna *

Should Clark Gable or Errol Flyn have been singers, surely their voices would have been like Bryan Ferry´s: romantic, velvety, smart and dreamy. Melodies for intimacy. "Mamouna" was considered in 1994 the erotic album of the moment, although any of his works could be considered like that. Brian Eno, collaborates with Mr Ferry for the first time since the former departed from Roxy Music without looking back.

China Crisis - Flaunt The Imperfection-  *

Ended the techno times of Difficult Shapes & Passive Rythms and Working With Fire and Steel, China Crisis publishes in 1985 this album carried by the hand of Donald Fagen (Steely Dan). Kind and melodic work of simple compositions whose only purpose is to relax us. The drum machines of earlier works are left and now the guitars, bass guitars and drums take place. Haven´t you still enjoy Black Man Ray or King in a Catholic Style in a beautiful dawn?. It´s about time you did.

The Church - Starfish -

A great work edited in 1988 by one of the best pop groups from Australia. Starfish is full of crystal and clean melodies.Under The Milky Way is one of the highlights, one of their catchiest songs and the one which gave them the moments of highest fame.

Cocteau Twins -Blue Bell Knoll-

Cocteau Twins began in the early 80´s writing gloomy and dark songs, but slowly they evolved searching the beauty and the vocal complexity meanwhile Elisabeth Frazer learned to control her voice until being one of the best and more angelical voices of the 80´s. Already forgotten their obscure beginnings they edit in 1987 Blue Bell Knoll, a magisterial lesson of beauty.

Cranes -Loved-

Third long play for the Shaw brother-sister band, which appeared as estated by their own words due to the influence of bands like Joy Division and The Cure. Dry sounds and hard rythms in counterpoint with the childish voice of the singer, Cranes escape from the main stream once more with this work leaking darkness from beginning to end. A good example of how the evolution of goth rock must be.

The Cure -Disintegration-

Tenth studio work from the band of Robert Smith. Considered as their musical highest point in this album we can find from small pieces of crystal pop to long musical themes where feelings of lost and hopelessness are released from their minds. It is here where we will, at last, find a great evolution in the lyrics; now we are told sad stories that grow powerful even without the music.

Depeche Mode -Ultra-

One of the best works of this survivor band from the techno movement of the 80´s. It is another step forward in their evolution.Thick sound mixed with intimate feelings and distorted guitars for their first work as a trio.

Echo & The Bunnymen -Ocean Rain-

In 1984 Echo & The Bunnymen release this album mixing their instruments with strings orchestral sounds. The Killing Moon is the highlight of this work, the single that gave them fame. Never had the bunnymen sounded so close to The Doors. Good melodies for a must have.

Everything But The Girl -Walking Wounded-

Musical resurrection in 1995 of this couple formed by Tracey Thorn at the vocals and Ben Watt playing guitars and keyboards. After more than a decade working together they find in technology another starting point for their career. The sensual voice of Tracey gives birth to stories oriented to the dancefloor. An album full of catchy singles: Before Today, Wrong, Single.
