Mark Burgess has updated his personal web site. A benefit gig has been organized for November in favour of Andy Moore, friend of Mark, who also collaborated with The Chameleons playing keyboards in their gigs, and who unfortunately suffers from a serious disease. People close to Andy Moore will take parte on this event, like the band Puressence and some member of Dodgy, as well as Yves Altana andMark Burgess himself. On this event, named PLAY 4 MOORE, a new CD with some rarities of The Chameleons including previuosly unreleased photographic material from the Chameleons. All the benefits will go to Andy Moore and his family.

All our encouregement to Andy and his family.

This is the original information taken from the The Chameleons official page and the personal web site of Mark Burgess:

Hi

We’re planning a short series of live dates in the UK for the last week of November. Basically this decision stems from some rather bad news regarding a good friend of, and former live keyboard player with, The Chameleons, named Andy Moore. It seems that Andy is suffering from a very, very serious form of brain cancer and the prognosis is not good. Andy is barely 40 years old and has a wife and two young children. Those closest to him therefore have organised a benefit concert in his honour and naturally myself, guitarist Yves Altana and drummer Achim Faerber have all agreed to take part. Also on the bill will be members of Manchester band Puressence and UK band ‘Dodgy’, for whom Andy did extensive work as a lighting designer and operator. In addition Martin Coogan, DJ with Manchester radio station ‘Revolution’ has agreed to DJ the event. All proceeds raised from this event, including proceeds from a planned auction and merchandising, will go directly to Andy and his family.
Now, flying the band into the UK to play the show from the continent, where the band is based, is an expensive business, but we don’t want any of the money raised for Andy’s fund to go toward covering costs. So with this in mind we’re trying to organise a few additional shows to offset costs incurred in the preparations and various logistics involved.

The current confirmed schedule:

* Saturday November 25th- Middleton Civic Hall - Benefit for Andy Moore (see below)
* Sunday November 26th - Sheffield Boardwalk
* Monday November 27th - Glasgow Barfly
* Tuesday November 28th - York Fibbers

We’re still in discussions regarding a London show but at the moment it’s looking pretty good. Details when I have them.

Thanks for reading this.

love

mark

Mark Burgess has confirmed some dates in May and in June in which he will be playing live. There´s one Show in France, another one in Netherlands, and some gigs in the USA.This is the info:

Hi all,

A couple of shows have been confirmed for May and June.

May 18th - Ninkasi Kao - Lyon France - Along with The Wedding Present.

This a full backllne show featurng Yves Altana on guitar and Achim Färber on drums

Infoline: 04 72 76 89 00 - www.ninkasi.fr

On June 4th something a little different. Pop One Records of Holland have some previously un-released material by Adrian Borland and will be releasing these tracks, titled 'The Amsterdam Tapes' in the near future. As a consequence they've assembled and augmented the original band that played on the recordings and have invited a few guest vocalists, including yours truly, to perform these tunes with the band, along with a few choice tracks originally recorded by The Sound. These too will be eventually released and titled 'Early Years'.

The show will be at the Paradiso, Amsterdam, Sunday June 4th.

For more info email info@poponerecords.nl

June 14th The Earl - Atlanta, US

This is also a full backline show featuring Yves Atlana on guitar, John Koldbeck I believe will be playing additonal guiars, Jack Sobel on drums and I'm very, very happy to be able to confirm that we'll also be joined by the mighty, Kwasi Asante.

Weezer is one of the promoters of this show so I should imagine it would be ok to email him for details.

June 16th Mick's Music Bar - Omaha Nebraska - This show has yet to be confirmed. When it is I'll ammend this note. This will be a solo acoustic set.

We're also in the process of sorting a venue for San Francisco for the weekend of June 23rd/24th. I'll be joined by my close friend James Oakes as usual and possibly one or two others, we're still working things out.

I'm also trying to orgnaise preview screenings, around 45 mins in length, from the forthcoming live Chameleons DVD, which has now been slated for release around the same time as the shows.

That's all for now,

be good to each other...

love

mark

(Thanks Mark)

Good news for all the Chameleons fans. It has just been released under the label of Andy Clegg and Andy Whitaker, Going Nowhere Records,a new CD with previously unreleased material by WEAVEWORLD, the band which was formed in the early 90s by Aky, John Lever and both Andys after the demise of The SUN & The MOON. WEAVEWORLD relased originally only one Single named Davy Jones. Now it has been released PART ONE, a compilation of all their tunes, including the mentioned single, accoustic sessions, demos, and an Interview. Here is the detailed info:

A new compilation album by Weaveworld with previously unreleased material is now released under Going Nowhere Records. The CD can now be ordered through Paypal (write to Going Nowhere Records for details) or Cheque to g.n.r.records, 103 Hazelhurst Road, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 9BQ, UK.
The price is £10 + £1,50 for postage in Europe and £2 for postage to the rest of the world. If you need more information write an e-mail to
Going Nowhere Records

Review of the album:
This Compilation album opens with the songs originally included on their debut Single (their only official release). Davy Jones is a rocky song with hard guitars, and Out and Down is a pop song with a soft and delicate melody (one of the highlights of the album). The CD also includes demos (What and incredible song is Open Up My Eyes!, it deserved from long time ago to be properly released) and the accoustic session it was never released. The album closes with the astonishing intro song they used to open their gigs with and an Interview to both Andys for KEY 103 Radio, recorded at the early 90´s. This is the first time all Chameleons fans can hear all the tunes from this fantastic band which was, once more, underrated by the music business.
On this album we can appreciate the talented musicians involved in this project, who had been previously in bands like MUSIC for ABORIGINES, The Chameleons, The SUN & The MOON and The Reegs, and who wanted to explore once more under the name of WEAVEWORLD an alternate way of creating Pop-Rock music.

(Thanks a lot Andy Clegg)

Andy Clegg has provided us with a lot of press material and some photographs related to WEAVEWORLD, the band which rose from the ashes of The SUN & The Moon and which had the same members that MUSIC for ABORIGENES had; that is to say John Lever, Aky, Andy Whitaker and Andy Clegg. We have created a new gallery dedicated to this little big band, which unfortunately only officially released a single before disappearing. You can access the gallery of WEAVEWORLD clicking here , or through our Photographs´ section.

Bryan Glancy, Manchester musician and close friend of Mark Burgess has sadly passed away on January, the 21st. Bryan had worked previously with Mark in the recordings of Zima Junction.

Mark has recently created a personal Web Site. This Web Site is still under construction and has a more personal character than the official Chameleons Web Site. In the Mark´s Web Site, he has created a special section in loving memory of Bryan. There you can find a special alternate version of When Harmony Comes, which never was released.

In the same Mark´s Web Site (http://web.mac.com/chameleonsmark/iWeb/), in the Current Releases Section, you can see the following pictures related to View From a Hill (the autobiographic book Mark is preparing) and Ascension ( a DVD recorded on the 2002 American Tour of The Chameleons), both to be released soon. We still don´t know if Ascension is still a working title or the definitive one for this brand new DVD.
