Mark Burgess has published a new Open Letter in the Forum of the Official Site. Good news: a new album is being prepared and some shows in the near future. Here is the complete Open Letter:

Hey Up!

Just wanted to say thanks to those who came and supported the show at Worpswede with the Dee Gees.. If you want to see some photos of the night my mate Martin Bosker (a VERY talented up and coming photographer, I'm sure you'll agree) has put some up on his web site:

I'll be putting the finishing touches to a compilation CD for the Strangeways label in Hamburg over the next few weeks. Titled 'Magic Boomerang it's an attempt to reflect my own favourite highlights (chameleons aside), beginning with the very first thing I ever recorded in a studio as The Cliches in 1980 and spanning the 20 odd years I've been recording music. The track list so far is:

Rock Of Ages
The Whole Wide World
The Speed Of Life
I Love You, You Bastard
Elected
A Song For Restless Children
World On Fire
Refugees
Always Want
Sin
Moon Over Kentucky
Spooks
Gethsemene
Stop Talking
Kinks

There'll likely be a limited edition bonus CD containing some of the tracks I couldn't include in the main cut for reasons of time, pace or technical problems with the source material. I'm hopeful that the CD will be ready for release in July and I'm in discussions concerning the licensing of the CD for domestic release in the UK and in the U.S.

The compilation has enabled me to gather some of the resources I need to continue working on brand new material in a new studio at home, so I'll be getting on with that for the most part..

I've yet to confirm the actual details but I'm slated for the Shetland Festival on the weekend of July 30th/31st (along with my good mate Kwasi Asante, whose been invited to DJ and my old mates Toxix Ephex from Aberdeen) so it promises to be quite a weekend. Initially I'd been approached to play solo acoustically but I'm hankering to play some bass again so I may well put together a trio and try and up the pace somewhat, prividing I can handle the logistics. I'll see how things pan out in the next few weeks but I may try and book a show or two in the Uk during the July build up to the festival.

In the short term I'm playing an acoustic gig in Hamburg on May 25th at the Logo alongside Irish songwriter Andy White and I'm really looking forward to meeting him.. Details of the gig can be found at:

That's about it I think. Have a great summer and be cool with each other

love, light, and that delicious, dark streak that makes you wet or gives you a hard on...
